Monday, October 13, 2003 Thanks to everyone who have visited my blog for the past year and eight months. What an incredible experience this has been. I have made new friends, learned new things about the Internet and discovered new things about myself. This blog was part of many good things that have happened to me in New York City. It is one of the most gratifying things I have done in my life.I am learning a new blog program/website called TypePad (from the makers of Moveable Type), and have decided to blog from there. (What? You're not going away?) It is a far simpler place and I hope you still visit me even if I'm still learning my way around. In time, it will be fabulous. And so it is done. Update your bookmarks boys and girls, Rickey is moving to rickey.org. 12:25 AM 2 comments Saturday, October 11, 2003 ![]() ![]() ![]() Carina, Candy and I spent the entire day together making flower arrangements for a wedding reception at the very dark Turquaz restaurant on 100 and Broadway. Actually, we also set candles all over the place which I thought was the biggest fire hazard ever: everything from the walls to the ceiling was covered in cloth. The owner (who incidentally may or may not be a future client) even asked as to place candles on the windows which had curtains. Didn't the FDNY tell us this is wrong? No no no. I hope the party went okay. As for the three of us, we were pooped. ![]() I also realized that I am beginning to outgrow my meager 2.0 megapixel camera. I noticed that it does not take great indoor pictures, specially when my hands are shaky like today cutting (beheading) roses and all. This picture, which I thought looked great in the LCD screen was actually blurred, and only looked good "small": ![]() Time to save up! 11:10 PM 3 comments Just found out this morning that tickets for Lord of the Rings Trilogy Tuesday are sold out since last Thursday (there are only 2 showings in New York City). I feel so bad. Please Loews, open more theaters! 11:05 PM 0 comments Tuesday, October 07, 2003 James didn't like the clam sauce recipe I gave him, which convinced me about two things: Filipinos like extreme flavors (really sweet spaghetti, salty fish) and I have grown accustomed to bland things (salads with almost no dressing, water). For some reason, I have been cooking recently, and surprisingly, I have been successful (meaning, the food tastes like how I intended it to be). This include: Mung Bean (Munggo) Stew with Shrimps, Tuna Salad Sandwich and just this afternoon, Chicken Adobo. Which reminds me, I need to call my mom and get her recipe for Adobo since I remember it to be really good with the chicken livers mushed in. Speaking of which, my favorite food when I was young used to be this concoction created by my mom with leftover chicken, meat and vegetables. I called it her "anything goes" soup which was quite delicious. Evidently, we never really had the "same" soup twice, but it always had elbow macaroni and tomato paste. The other day, I had dinner with Ursula and I told her my 2-3 month life story in two hours. She did inspire me to finally make business cards for my freelance computer work, which I'm very proud of: ![]() I'm the "Computer Guy"... In other news, I have also been downloading music again, but I have been having difficulty finding some dance remixes on mp3. I've only found stuff on vinyl. I should go to Chelsea and look at some of the gay bookstores. Finally, I'm so bored of my blog right now, and uninspired. I'm working on the design of a new blog on a new URL and probably using Typepad. I don't want to rush myself but I've made some design studies. After five years, I will finally use rickey dot org. 7:29 PM 3 comments |
